Namdaemun Market 남대문 시장

Today was a shopping day. Our feet are sore, our legs are exhausted, but we shopped our butts off and it was worth it. We started out at Namdaemun Market, a crazy street market with just about anything you could ever want. From dried squid to strawberry shaped pillows, yummy street food to leather jackets, there was EVERYTHING. We were eventually lured into a small restaurant off in a side street by two women who could totally tell we were american and sensed our need for food. For lunch we had kimchi fried rice and some more hameul pajeon which was of course delicious. We felt oh so korean in this tiny hidden restaurant. Afterward, we wandered around some more and I ended up bargaining for some metal chopsticks and a jacket.

After a fail of a trip to Changdeokgung Palace (who knew that Mondays are like Sundays in the US), we wound up at Dongdaemun, a heaven for clothing designers. It seriously had so many buttons, fabric, and patches that I was completely overwhelmed. Eventually we found a mall kind of place with exactly the clothes I was looking for. According to my dad I was a “kid in a candy store”. I love Korean fashion!
