Okay, here's a serious question for everyone: Where would you travel to right now if you could only visit one place?
So, for me, this question is kind of impossible. I want to see the world, and I mean all of it. Ever since my first trip to Paris with my dad way back when, I have this craving to see as many countries as possible, experience as many cultures as possible, and see as much as I can of this vast world.
When I was in Argentina for spring break, I saw a different side of the world that I had been completely oblivious to before, one with financial hardships that we have been fortunate enough to avoid here in the US. Now don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved Argentina, but traveling to Buenos Aires made me realize how sheltered my travel experiences had been up until now. Prior to this trip, I had only been to posh European countries or super technology savvy countries in Asia. My first venture into South America opened my eyes to a completely different culture, one still recovering from the effects of the Dirty War in Buenos Aires around the late 1970's. This realization didn't scare me, it instead instilled in me a desire to see more, to experience more. Forget 5 star hotels. There's so much more that this world has to offer and I hope to see it all one day.
Videos such as Nike's new "Make it Count", where Filmmaker Casey Neistat traveled the world on the company's dime, are perfect examples of this mentality. Life is too short to sit on the couch. Instead we should be trying new things, making mistakes, and not being afraid to live each moment to the fullest. He traveled around the world in 10 days, living off the budget provided for him by Nike to make a movie about Nike's #makeitcount campaign. While this may not be what Nike originally had in mind, I love the video and think that what Neistat did was awesome. Someday my friends.... Someday.
With all of that being said, my person top 10 countries to see list is as follows:
- New Zealand
- South Africa
And I have been fortunate enough to already checked off:
Now it's your turn. What are your top ten travel destinations?
